Who would win? USS Montana class Vs IJN Super Yamato WWII?
Both of these ships have never been built and laided down. But, Who would win? Super Yamato's 20inch or Montana's 12 16inch guns?
US ships had radar fire control systems that let them target and engage the enemy at longer ranges than the Japanese could with their optical systems.
Even the Iowa class had the ability to engage at least 3 km further out than the Yamato.
Although smaller caliber, when you consider the entire weapons system, the US Navy ships were superior.
