Ping Rapture Fairway Wood
The Ping Rapture fairway wood maximizes the lightweight and high strength properties of titanium to create a forgiving and reliable option for golfers of all abilities. A machined 6-4 titanium face increases ball speed for added performance.
Features:

2. A large weight pad positioned directly beneath the Center of Gravity (CG) produces higher initial launch trajectory and low spin for longer, straighter carry distance
The Ping Rapture fairway woods are manufactured from 100% titanium and the large-headed woods offer exceptional forgiveness. A 6-4 titanium face is machined to produce a thin, highly-responsive face for maximum distance. An internal weight pad positioned directly below the centre of gravity increases the launch angle and reduces spin to produce high, penetrating shot characteristics. The Ping Rapture fairway woods fully-machined face is robotically plasma-welded to the body for consistency and durability. The precision welds allow additional weight savings that are re-distributed throughout the club head for maximum performance.
The Ping Rapture 3 Wood is unusual in that the head size is a massive 229cc, which is what the very first oversized drivers used to be. We don't really see this as an issue as the club was very easy to hit and it was very forgiving from the tee and the fariway. The added confidence this gives you is great. Compared to older Ping wood models this looks great at address too. The larger head of the Ping Rapture 3 wood means that it launches the ball at a higher trajectory, so the loft on the club is reduced to 14 degrees to make it play like a normal 3-wood. Make sure you check this out before you buy. Overall a very good club, but a bit on the pricey side so I am not sure we could say it was value for money.
