will be an ice cube floating in a glass of oil (olive oil)?
test if I am one of ice floating in the water, olive oil, and alcohol to a science fair project
It will be close. The density of olive oil is 0.918 g / cm ^ 3 and the ice is about 0.92 g / cm ^ 3. If the ice has air bubbles in it, is the effective density would be lower. Also remember that olive oil freezes at a higher temperature than water, so the oil ice cube around the turn solid (frozen and olive oil is more dense then liquid olive oil). My guess is that a mass of frozen oil will form around the ice and sink the entire group at first, but then again begin to float as ice inside the solid cast.
